What began at Indece Hall, KNUST, Kumasi as hand-drawn bible cartoons taped across campus corridors has grown into a global phenomenon spreading inspiration and joy worldwide. In those early days, Cycil Jones Abban — widely known as Parables — shared scripture through posters that blended faith, culture, creativity, and storytelling. The response was immediate and heartfelt, hinting at the impact to come.

Over a decade on, Parables' art has evolved far beyond posters. Today, it’s a thriving platform using cartoons and visual media to make inspirational scriptures accessible to audiences of all ages. His mission has remained steadfast: teach biblical truth through joyful, imaginative art.

Colorful cover of "Genesis Chapter One" features Earth, planets, and stars. Text: "A verse by verse illustration of the creation story."

To commemorate this milestone in this line of work, 'Parables' s releasing a new title, “Genesis Chapter One: Illustrated Bible Verses.” The book retells the creation story using vivid, expressive cartoons that invite readers — from children to adults — to experience Scripture in a fresh and engaging way.

"I'm humbled to see how my art has touched hearts" says Cycil, " and I'm hopeful this new set of work will continue to be a blessing."

Cycil's passion for culture as well shines through in every creation, ensuring a reflection of Ghanaian heritage in the various artistic expressions.

But the celebration doesn’t end there. Parables is also developing an epic animated film inspired by the Genesis narrative — expanding the project from page to screen and further cementing cartoon as a powerful tool for faith-based storytelling.

As part of the launch, ten illustrations from the book have been made available online. The full collection can be accessed via the "Koliko Plus" App for GHC 10, with proceeds helping to support the ongoing creative work.

With a legacy spanning over two decades, Cycil's work continues to prove that the Word of God can be both inspiring and beautifully illustrated.
