Founded by visionary entrepreneur Cycil Jones Abban, Parables was born out of a deep passion for storytelling and a mission to celebrate Ghana’s rich folklore and history. Cycil envisioned a studio that would bring African narratives to life through the power of animation—and he delivered.

PIONEERING ANIMATED FEATURE FILMS AND SHORTS
2007
ANANSE MUST DIE
​The journey began with the release of 'Ananse Must Die', Ghana's first animated feature film, paving the way for Ghanaian animation.


2009
28TH, THE CROSSROADS
The Ananse milestone was followed by yet another notable production, "28th, The Crossroads"(re-released 2022) showcasing the studio's commitment to creative storytelling and cultural preservation.


2012
STICKY GUM
The studio cemented it's position as leaders in Ghanaian animation with the release of the sticky gum tale and several other 'By the Fireside' titles.
2014
KOLIKO TALES
The studio expanded into Television and family entertainment with the production of folklore-themed series for national television, bringing popular Ghanaian stories to a wider audience.

2015
TIME WITH ANANSE
Parables launched 'Ananse Family Day Out', a brand that evolved into 'Time with Ananse, Live on Stage', a live stage show combining oratory, folk music, animation and stage drama to showcase classic Ananse stories every festive season.

2015
MIGHTY JOO
Parables Studio expanded its creative universe with Mighty Joo, Ghana's first environmental superhero designed to inspire safe environment habits among the youth. With his thrilling adventures and eco-friendly messages, Mighty Joo empowers young minds to take action against pollution, deforestation, and climate change, promoting a greener and more sustainable future.


CELEBRATING FOLKLORE AND ANIMATION
2023
ANANSEKROM TOON FESTIVAL
Another classic cartoon and animation festival initiative celebrating Ananse folklore and providing a platform for creatives to showcase their work and promote Ghanaian storytelling.
2024
KOLIKOPLUS APP
Bridging the distribution gap, Parables released 'Kolikoplus', a digital innovation that showcases cartoon and animated content made in Ghana, demonstrating its commitment to leveraging technology to promote African creativity. The web-based app evolved into a mobile app quickly gaining 500+ downloads after relaunch
